Themes that I cover are looking into social difficulties that females at different stages in their lives might find themselves in. Usually the scenarios are based on conversations that I’ve had with peers and family members, where I share a personal story and be surprised that they've experienced something similar. They're reflections of thoughts that one might keep to themselves and not say out loud, whilst I like to play around with abnormal and sometimes contrasting colour schemes to the subject matter. The same female character that I have created appears throughout all the pieces of work, to have continuity and to also have a sense of a story line, as you’re looking into the life of this one person’s story. Even though the character is me, I haven't put my face to the figure because I don't want that to be a distraction as I want viewers to look at the pieces and see themselves. This piece in particular is a scene of a girl walking through a darkly lit area with music blaring in her ears and looking over her shoulder with a weary expression. An experience all females face as our heartbeat races fearing for our safety. No subtitles added to this piece as the silence speaks volumes.
